Green River Basin Transit Loss Study – Blacks Fork and Little Snake River Expansion
Follum Hydrologic Solutions (FHS) is extending its ongoing Transit Loss Study for the Wyoming State Engineer’s Office to include the Blacks Fork and Little Snake Rivers within the Green River Basin. Building on the existing RiverWare® model developed for the Upper Green River, this phase of work expands the modeling framework to quantify transit losses associated with evaporation, riparian evapotranspiration, and canal diversions along additional key river reaches. The expanded model covers the Blacks Fork River from near Millburne, Wyoming to Flaming Gorge Reservoir, and the Little Snake River from the Wyoming–Colorado border near Savery to below Dry Gulch near Baggs. The project enhances the RiverWare system by implementing an incremental transit loss methodology that allows the State to evaluate both “system” and “conserved” water as it moves through the river network.
